Suspended Ceilings
We undertake supply and installation of all aspects of suspended ceilings, from large commercial jobs using exposed two way grid and tiles, to metal ceiling batons in residential housing.
Being accredited Gib® installers we understand the advantages of using metal ceiling batons in residential housing, because of the heat generated in roof spaces, timber batons can be subjected to conditions that can cause substantial movement resulting in joint failure and popped fastenings. The metal batons are fixed on suspension clips and perimeter channel, this method gives a degree of separation between the timber framing and plasterboard and results in a more stable ceiling substrate.
All ceilings are installed using a rotating laser level this ensures your ceiling is completely level and flat.
Plasterboard Fixing
Certified Interiors supply and install the full range of plasterboard systems.
We are accredited by Winstone Wallboards to supply and install bracing, noise control reduction and fire rated systems.
The substrate is checked before lining to ensure deviation is within allowable tolerances and all services, insulation and required fixings are in place. Plasterboard is fixed horizontally using the longest sheet available, this minimises joints, and reduces wastage thereby, resulting in cost savings. If it is necessary to join ceiling sheets, therefore in areas over six meters in length joints are back-blocked. Back-blocking strengthens and stabilises joints between plasterboard sheets. It is primary used to reinforce the joint and to artificially create a taper where butt joints occur. Back-blocking consists of laminating strips of plasterboard to the back surface of sheets directly behind sheets using a bonding plaster.
Plasterboard Stopping
Certified Interiors team of plasterers can undertake all manner of interior plastering.
We use only premium grade materials and all work is carried out to manufacturers specification. Joins are taped using paper reinforcing tape, paper-faced metal corners are fitted and all fastener holes filled. A minimum of three coats of plaster is applied but more layers are applied if necessary, the work is then sanded and the entire surface checked with a 500 watt halogen light. Any imperfections are marked and touched up before handing over for painting. This is known as a level four finish.
We also specialise in level five work. Level five is used where a even higher standard of work is desired, this can be because of critical either natural light i.e. sunlight or artificial lighting shining over the wall at acute angles, or when paints with a higher gloss level are used. After bringing the plasterboard to a level four finish, a coat of finishing compound is applied to provide an even texture and porosity over the entire surface. This can be trowel applied, however Certified Interiors are also sole registered applicators for USG Tuff Hide in the Nelson region, a specially formulated high build coating, that provides an even, hard wearing surface to plasterboard, providing an excellent substrate for painting.
Cove And Cornice
